How It All Began
Lee Volkov was a student at a Revere High School when the opportunity
came to take over the school's internal radio station (WRHS)
due the graduation of the station's primary DJ. As soon as football
season started, Lee was asked by the Revere Football Boosters
to disc jockey a dance after a football game as a fundraiser
for the club. Having no equipment of his own at the time, Lee
borrowed anything he could from the bandroom and auditorium.
This first event (see picture below) took place in the fall of
1988.
In the coming months, Revere Middle School needed a disc jockey
for their dance, and then word spread out to other schools about
the student from Revere who had his own DJ business. By the time
Lee graduated in 1990, he had performed for many events and was
branching out into weddings, parties, festivals, and sound systems.
What started out as a one time dance to help out the football
boosters, turned into a business that has performed at hundreds
of special events all over Ohio and beyond.

LV Sound "Fun
Facts"
The first LV Sound
event was in 1988. It was a dance for Revere High School in
Richfield.
(photos from these
early years can be found in the LV
Sound History section of
the online Media Gallery)
LV Sound was the first Akron, Ohio based DJ to utilize giant
screen music video systems starting in 1992.
LV Sound did not start using CD's until 1994. The first music
library consisted of albums and 45's. The first music videos
were not made available on DVD until 1999. From 1992-1999 all
music videos were on videotape. The first DVD player purchased
for LV Sound was at a cost of over $500.00.
LV Sound's first PA system was rated at 50 watts. We now run
systems anywhere from 1000-3000 watts based on the venue size.
DJ Lee first met his wife, Kim, in 1990 when he was the house
DJ for Photon, a teen club in Copley.
The first DJ vehicle was a Chevy Chevette, a very small compact
car of it's time. Today, the wheels of LV Sound consist of
a household moving van with a 14 foot cargo box and ramp.
In 2007, Lee and
Kim traveled to Clear Lake, Iowa to perform at a wedding on
the stage of the world famous Surf Ballroom.
The Surf has played
host to some of the biggest names in music through the years.
It was also the location of the last concert of Ritchie Valens,
The Big Bopper, and Buddy Holly on February 2, 1959. They all
died later that night in a plane crash that changed music history
and provided the inspiration for the Don McLean's hit song
"American Pie."
